What is the Bunny Barn?

The Bunny Barn is an upcoming home base for our craft business, bunnies, and community engagement! The Bunny Barn will feature a large play space for our Angora rabbits, a fiber arts studio, and more!

Do You Rescue, Adopt, Sell, or Breed Rabbits?

The majority of our rabbits were initially purchased from farms or breeders with the intent of being fiber-producers. For those who are unfamiliar, Angora rabbit fiber is a luxury fiber that adds softness and unique characteristics to yarn. As a fiber artist, this was the main motivation for getting started with rabbits.

However, as soon as I brought home our first bunny Alfie, I knew that there was something special about these bunnies. I quickly saw the joy they brought to everyone who interacted with them, and began taking our bunnies to events at the library and working towards more volunteer work with animal assisted therapy organizations. I also suddenly found myself going from owning one, to owning eight.

That being said, we do not breed, sell, or adopt out rabbits. However, we have taken in several Angoras from the community, and are willing to discuss accepting more if someone is needing another person to take over care of their rabbit (Due to space, we can only accept Angora breeds, but will gladly help point you to other resources if needed).

We encourage anyone who wishes to own a rabbit to visit the Georgia House Rabbit Society, also in Kennesaw, to adopt. We also will be offering events on rabbit care for both children and adults, with some emphasis on the specific needs of fiber rabbits.

What Programs Will You Offer?

Throughout the year, we plan to offer a number of different workshops and experiences for different audiences:

Visits – Meet our colony of fluffy Angora rabbits! We will discuss a little bit about the breed, their history, and general rabbit care. Each participant will be provided with treats to feed to the rabbits, and groups will be kept small enough for lots of one-on-one bunny time.

Traditional Skills/Craft Workshops – focused on different crafts and skills we use on the farm: soap making, fiber arts, gardening, and more!

What Else Will You Offer?

Larger-Scale Events – In addition to regular programs offerings, we will also host special events throughout the year. These events will help support our efforts through assisting with costs related to veterinary care, travel expenses for off-site visits, and more.

Photo Mini Sessions – These are another way we are hoping to raise money for the care of our rabbits. These will feature a themed backdrop (Easter, Christmas, Fall, etc.) and some bunnies to take a photo with. You will need to provide your own photographer.

Educational Visits – We hope to maintain the ability to offer free educational and animal interaction experiences to public institutions like libraries, nursing homes and hospice facilities, schools, and more. If you would like to arrange one of these visits with us, please contact us using the form at the top of the webpage.

Workplace Stress-Reduction – For a small fee, we are also able to offer on-site stress reduction bunny snuggles to workplaces within an hour of our main location. Due to limited availability during the week, please contact us with plenty of notice to arrange one of these sessions.
