On the Farm
The majority of our animals were chosen with the intent of them providing something for our family–either fiber, eggs, or milk. Them being cute is just a bonus! Others are rescues or rehomes from around the community. All our animals are raised with love and care, and many can also be found accompanying us to community events.

Chickens
We have 30 chickens, with several different breeds and a variety of ages. Some of our hens are featured below, but they all play a vital role!

Puffball
Buff Orpington
The angriest, broodiest hen you’ll ever meet.

Pepper
Barred Rock
Our sweetest and most social hen.

Copper
Black Copper Maran
One of our star egg-layers

Brownie
Cochin
Funky, fluffy footed hen with beautiful feathers.
Goats
We have two goats on the farm. Our Angora goat, Sahara, is a source of fiber, and like sheep is (ethically) shorn each year. Our Nigerian Dwarf is a dairy goat. Both of our goats are also great for landscaping, clearing off blackberry thickets and other overgrowth on our property.

Pigs

We currently have one outdoor pig, a potbelly named Big Bertha. She is the primary composter on our property, eating not only our food scraps, but also handling what would otherwise be food waste from family and friends.

We also have one indoor pig, named Daisy Mae (after the Animal Crossing character). She is a Juliana/Kune Kune mix.
Other Animals
We also have what would be considered “normal” pets like cats and dogs, as well as some exotic animal like tree frogs.
